Admissions

At Beginnings, we provide quality child care to families of Group Health employees and to the surrounding community. We accept children into our Center regardless of race, color, religion, ethnic, cultural or physical background.

All our openings are available according to space and are offered to children in the following age ranges:

  • Beginnings Capitol Hill: 3 months to 6 years (under 7 years)
  • Beginnings Queen Anne: 3 months to 5 years (under 6 years)

Enrollment

Parents can choose between several alternatives. We offer full time and two part time schedules: Tuesday and Thursdays or Monday, Wednesday and Fridays. These alternatives consist only of full days.

Waiting Lists

If we have no immediate vacancies at the time you apply, your name can be placed on a waiting list. There is no fee to place your name on our waiting list, but it does not automatically offer you a spot. However, there is a $325 deposit fee ($200 is an non refundable registration fee and the rest will be put towards your first months tuition) in order to reserve an opening. We recommend that you call the Center periodically to check on your status. Phone numbers are below. (It is often necessary to leave a message. A staff member will return your call promptly.)

  • Beginnings Capitol Hill: Phone (206)326-2069
  • Beginnings Queen Anne: Phone (206)283-1007

Tuition Fees « click for tuition rates

Payment schedule: Tuition is due on the first day of the month. If this schedule proves unduly burdensome for a particular family, other arrangements can be made. Otherwise, families who pay after the third of the month will be automatically fined an additional $15 late fee. (This is because of the risk and additional burden they impose on the Center's ability to operate smoothly for all children.)

Please note: The meaning of "tuition" is the same as in other institutional settings (e.g. college). There are no refunds for absences, unannounced vacations, time taken off, or the like.

Sibling discount: There is a 15% discount off total tuition if there are siblings enrolled.

Tuition subsidies: Available for families that qualify; please see the Program Supervisor at your Center for details.

Additional extracurricular programs will be charged on an individual basis, based on participation agreed to by parents.

Hours of Operation

Daily Hours: Both Centers are open Monday through Friday, 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. Please, out of concern for the staff, we kindly ask that you keep these hours firmly in mind. Remember, 6:00 p.m. is when the Center closes; all children must be picked up by then. Otherwise, except in cases of emergency, a late fee of one dollar per minute (past 6 p.m.) will be charged. This fee must be paid directly to the staff person on duty.

Please note: The Department of Social and Health Services - WAC 388-150-100 (6) states a child may remain in care only ten hours or less per day as necessitated by the parent's working hours and travel time from and to the center.
